Creating an Entrepreneurial Ecosystem

Entre EcosystemEntrepreneurship is a powerful force in the world. It can be seen in big corporations like Google, local startups like our own Jackie O’s, and even social entrepreneurship ventures like TOMS.

Here at Ohio University, we are growing our Entrepreneurship profile one inspired student at a time. The Center, started just over 2 years ago, already boasts strong accomplishments and is garnering interest from the most ambitious and creative students. Last year we even won the 2015 Outstanding Emerging Entrepreneurship Program from the USASBE (which is a big deal), but we are not stopping there. Increasing our development, engaging more students, and growing our clubs are just a few of the goals of our transformative program.

Have you heard about the Bobcat Launchpad? It is one of our premier programs that offers the chance to win $25,000, and you can be a part of it. Check out this article that explains it more.

Not only are the faculty working hard towards excellence, but the students are dedicated to creating an entrepreneurial ecosystem on campus. Check out this article about two students that are working hard to make this a reality.

Ohio University Entrepreneurs (OUE)
OUE had a very exciting October!  Starting with three wonderful guest speakers: Nate Riggs, Chris Crawford, and Paul Benedict. OUE brought in these professors for their vast experience in entrepreneurship and their unique leadership styles. This month also included the group’s big trip up to Columbus on the 14th which was filled with networking events and behind the scenes tours of some of the top entrepreneurial resources in the area. The OUE crew got to network with venture capitalists, venture developers, and high growth entrepreneurs. The trip was a huge success and after a long day, no one could sleep in the vans because they were up talking about what an awesome day it was. Looking forward, OUE has their pitch night on November 17th which allows OUE members the opportunity to pitch in front of a panel of experienced judges and for the possibility of milestone funding. If interested in learning more about OUE and all they have to offer feel free to contact them at OUEntrepreneurs@ohio.edu.

Epsilon Nu Tau

Epsilon Nu Tau has held 3 Food Drives in the past month, and raised approximately $1,000 worth of food for the Athens Food Pantry. We paired up for a social with OUE, and had a wonderful time. We have also been making recruiting efforts, and have two potential new members. Finally, we have been working on a few projects within the organization that have efforts to generate revenue streams for the fraternity.

Amplified

October has been an exciting and idea-filled month for Amplified Communication. Client, The African American Male Initiative – hosted their second barbershop talk, discussing the perception of masculinity in the African American community. Amplified has also implemented a #BSUSpotlight for the Black Student Union, highlighting student’s accomplishments in the black community. The grind hasn’t fallen short for the organization itself working hard to coordinate their second annual #OHIOCONNECT, networking mixer planned for March 2016. This year’s theme is personal branding in the 21st century, so stay tuned!  Follow us on Instagram and Twitter, @AmplifiedOU.
