The goals ENT has for the upcoming year are to make a bigger impact on the community by completing various service projects throughout the year, such as the food drive we held last Saturday, and continue to hold each Saturday. We also look to create better awareness of ENT through enhanced marketing. Finally, we hope to hold fundraising events. Even potentially setting up a channel for people to buy products and services from OU Students.

Calling all innovators: The Scripps Innovation Challenge has returned for its fourth year at Ohio University!

Ambitious, smart students should check out the Scripps Innovation Challenge! See further information below:SIC-page-001

SIC is a unique competition that allows all OU students to come up with innovative solutions to real-world problems in the media and communication industry. Working individually or in teams, students will choose a “challenge” from which to develop a new business idea before presenting it on Pitch Day to a group of industry professionals in March 2016. We offer some pretty serious prize money as well – $10,000 for first place and $5,000 for second place, as well as 5 $1,000 honorable mention prizes and a $5,000 diversity prize.

SIC is a tremendous learning experience, and a great way to gain real-world experience, and even a job or internship, in the media and entrepreneurial fields.

To learn more about SIC, and to grab some free food and cool prizes, come to our kickoff event on Monday, Sept. 21 at 6 pm in Baker Ballroom.

Grants Provide Opportunities for Women

“Women entrepreneurs are having a womentremendous impact on the small business landscape nationwide.”

Of course, we already knew that. However, financing these exciting new ventures come with difficulties. Increasingly, women are being turned down for small business loans. Therefore, women turn to more unconventional sources of funding such as crowd sourcing and online loans. Another useful avenue for funding are grants.

Grants provide an opportunity for money that doesn’t need paid back, but they require strict compliance with the guidelines of the grant. These confusing rules, which differ from other types of funding, can be a road block. However, there are resources out there to help you navigate grants and grant writing.

Check out this article for more information on grants available for women and minorities.
