StartUp Weekend is a 54- hour event that participants pitch ideas and team up to launch startup companies. Ohio University’s Innovation Center, hosted Athens third startup weekend October 18-20 with over 30 participants. The winners of the event received $1,650 in prizes, a six-month membership to the Innovation Center and a one-hour business consultation with Chief Operating Officer Matt Strader of imgur.
“It’s a great experience for anyone.” Anna Jensen, Associate Director of the Innovation Center says, “There are a lot of great friendships and professional connections made, some even become clients for the Innovation Center.”
Participants learn skills that StartUp companies develop over months and years in only 54- hours. Participants get to practice what it’s like to run a StartUp company. They test their ideas through market research, identify target markets and give presentations to an experienced panel of business professionals, all within 54 hours.
